Hi,
I'm not sure whether to apply for a B1 (3 months) or a B2 (6 months) visa to enter the USA as a tourist. I'm from Australia and would like to stay for a period of 6 months so I don't have to rush my visit, but the B2 process seems pretty complicated and after all the effort it could just be refused and no refund given (the way I read it).
My question; Can a B1 Visitors Visa (for 3 months) be extended by US Authorities, either before or after issue? Has it ever happened or is it only possible to stay for a 6 month period by applying for a B2 visa from the start?
Just seems to be an awfully complicated process as for a start I have to travel over 700 miles to get interviewed and fingerprinted in Sydney for a B2 Visa as there is no US Consulate in Brisbane.
Thanks for any help,
Brad
