About 12 years ago, USCIS and State Dept stopped requesting notary witness for I-134, Affidavit of Support. Signing the form on page 2 is considered your acceptance of the potential fraud penalty for misrepresentation. Obtaining a notary witness would be considered redundant.

It will be a good idea for them to have a copy of your birth cert or other proof of U.S. citizenship to qualify you to be a sponsor. Your relationship (spouse) is not an issue as a co-sponsor.

I have another question...
I am sponsoring for my in-laws. My in-laws will carry my spouse's birth certificate. Do they need to carry my birth certificate for visa interview?
