VISA EXTENSION APPROVED BUT WITH LATE RESPONSE I-94 IS EXPIRED - please heeeeeeeelp

hey

I enter the US in may 2014, when they gave me 6 months (till nov/18 2014)
In october 2nd they recieved my extension request for more 6 months (so till may/18 2015) and it was being processed and when it was close to may/18 I called and they told me to just wait

On june/29 they sent me an email saying that my case was aproved and I needed to wait for the notice
they couldnt find my address at first so the notice got here only on july/6

for my surprise they approved but they gave me only till may 18
so this don't give me an valid i-94 and I can't apply for the student visa as planned cuz the school won't give me the i-20 for it
and if I leave and try to come back they will question me about this 2 months out of status that it is not even my fault

i have a scholarship and is all payed off for housing etc
I dont want to have to leave

any help?
i have no idea what to do
