Applied Visitor VISA extension, but decide to leave as planned

Hi there,

I applied visitor visa extension for my parents, but now they decide to leave as planned so an extension is not needed. Will there be any consequence if they leave as planned but later the extension is approved or rejected? Or if the extension is approved before the leave, are they still free to leave as planned? Thanks!
