Visitor Visa extension

my parents want to extend their stay. They've 10 year visitor visa and have i-94
issued for 6 months. The i-94 expires in 2 weeks from now and we want to know the risks associated with requesting for a 6 month extension, at this late stage.

is it worth going through the extension request? what if they apply and stay here past the i-94 expiry and it gets rejected after a month- will it effect their 10 year visa?

if they go back before i-94 expiry, can they come back after 2 months? will they be asked why they are coming back so early (within 2 months) after departure?

Do not go for any extension this 11th hour. Ideal time is 45 days prior to I-94 expiry. If they leave in time, they are allowed to come back during their visa valid period.If they are coming early they should be prepared to answer why it necessitated to come back early?

"coming early" -- what is considered early?

Is 2 or 3 months early?
