Hi there,
I am currently in the US on a B2 visa. It is my first entry into the
US on this visa and I was originally granted 6 months (date of
expiration is January 8, 2017).
I recently filed for an extension via an i539 asking for a further 3
months (until April 6, 2017) to complete a road trip I began which had
a few interruptions due to my travel partner's family's medical
emergencies at her home in Canada.
I want to know if I will still have to depart the country on January
8, 2017 if I have not heard back about the decision on my i539
application. And if so, how long will I need to leave the country for
(and which countries am I valid to depart to and come back from) as
our Canadian registered vehicle will still be in the US and I will
need to return it to British Columbia, Canada eventually.
As it is much closer to the date of my due departure I want to make
sure I know the limitations of both my visa and my pending application.
Thank you so much.
