Visitor Visa extenstion\Rejection

Can you please confirm one thing immediately,
If the visitor visa extension is denied, does the B2 visa become invalid?? Does that indicate the person can no longer travel to USA?

I am planning to apply for visitor visa to my mother in law and want to understand the complications before doing that. Any help would be highly appreciated.

If the person is still in the US at the time it is denied, and it is past the I-94 expiration, yes, the visa will become void. That means they need to apply for a new visa to visit the US. If the person leaves before the decision on the extension of status, the visa is not affected.
