Visitor Visa Extension - ONline Filing

Hi,

A quick question. Has any one used the online filing system for I-539 application which is for Extension of Stay on Visitor visa?

If so, can we add in a request letter etc or is it just only an application that can be done online. I believe the letter would meet the purpose only when attached to an application and was wondering how it works in this case?

Also, do they request later for copies of Passport etc later on after submitting the online application.

Filing I-539 online

I did it a week ago for my mother. After I submitted the information using my credit card online, I had to send all the supporting documents along with the receipt of the online application through Fedex to Vermont USCIS center.

You need to send all the supporting documents as you did when she went to get for VISA stamping.

Here are the supporting documents I sent after filing it online:

1. I-134, Affidavit of Support

2. Invitation Letter

3. Passport(mine and my mothers) - All 36 Pages

4. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) - Front and back

5. Birth Certificate - Mine

6. Employment Letter

7. 2 Latest Paychecks - mine

8. Company Registration Number and information - optional

9. Tax return Forms for last 5 years

10. Bank Statements (CDs and Regular Checking)

11. Certificates of Insurance - If you have insurance

12. Home Mortgage Statement - optional

It's better to show all types of supporting docs that you can support the candidate while they stay here.

Wow, those are quite a few documents to be sent.

Did it ask for the tax returns of 5 years or did you send them as a precaution.
That's a lot of paper work in general.
