Yes, you can.

However, whether you can come back etc. depends upon how long you have been already staying in the US.

if you leave your extension application will be deemed abandoned. you will get a fresh stay at POE

BUT, if you just spent 5-6 months in the USA and go to london for 2 weeks and come back to the USA... The POE officer may send you back, for returning so soon and no showing ties to your own country.

Yes, this is 6th month into my 6 months stay and my son will be with me while i go to london and come back.
what are our options as of to safely come back to US after visit from london.

this is my 6th month of my stay...and we have applied for extension on nov 2nd while my i94 expires on dec 22.

You can't... Unless you spend several months in London (3-6 months).

You can not live in the USA with a visitor visa, hence, you can not spend more than 6 months in any 12 months window in the USA vs the time you spend at home.

That will raise suspicions at the POE and they will either cancel your visa or give you a very restricted I-94 (for 1 month or less with No CO/AOS/EOS on it)...

Either way, you are risking your visa and being sent back home for returning so shortly, after spending 6 months in USA and going to London? where is your "non immigrant intent"? where are your ties to your country? doesn't your son study? those are questions you will face.
