  • Should I file for extension?

    Hello all,

Thanks for this informative forum. I learned a lot from this site

My mom came to visit me and my wife from July 2008 and her I-94 expire date is Jan 11, 2009. This is her second visit.

So me and my wife just had our second daughter for 2 months now, so we like to have my mom stay for another year to help us take care the baby. So my questions are:

    1. Should I start filing for her extension now?

    2. Her reason to extend is to help us take care the baby, is it good enough?

    3. Should I consult lawyer to have them do the paper work for my mom?

    Thanks for your help

Your mother may NOT work in the US; it is illegal. Babysitting your children is WORKING ILLEGALLY. Look at the postings in the forum.

Send her home before the expiration date of her current I-94 if you want her to have the opportunity to visit you again without an interrogation at the border about her ILLEGAL WORK.

You will need to make professional child care arrangements - a nanny, child care center, day care home - or you should return to your home country where your mother may legally care for your children. You or your wife can stay home to care for your children, but your mother may not.

It is people like you, your wife and your mother who make it difficult for others to obtain visitor visa. A visitor may not work caring for their grandchildren by caring for they while both parents work. OBEY US LAW.
