  • Application for extension rejected

I have a 10 years multiple entry B2 visa. I came to US in May, I-94 was stamped for mid November. I am a doctor and have come to US for further studies. I had a few interviews in December and January and so applied for Visa extension, giving this as the reaon, well in advance on mid October. Today I came to know that my application for extension has been rejected.
Now i am really getting worried as from the information on the USCIS site, my visa is now void and I will have to apply again for it. I am leavign US within 10 days but I have a few questions and would really appreciate a quick reply-
-Is there a way to save the present 10 years multiple entry Visa?
-what problems is this going to create if i apply for a B1/B2 visa again? and after how long should I apply?
-If I am offered a job, is it going to effect the processing of H1 visa?
-is this going to effect H4 visa also just in case?

    Please reply soon.
    Thanking you in anticipation.

-Is there a way to save the present 10 years multiple entry Visa? No.

-what problems is this going to create if i apply for a B1/B2 visa again? you overstayed your visit, filed for an extension, this will make it harder to prove ties to home country and after how long should I apply? that depends on you. i would wait at least 1 year, since you spent most of 2008 in the USA.

-If I am offered a job, is it going to effect the processing of H1 visa? It shouldn't.

-is this going to effect H4 visa also just in case? It shouldn't either.

      Reapplying for extension

Thank you for the reply. What is the risk and added disadvantage of reapplying for extension? Is there a chance of extension acceptance if the reason is valid?

      Thank you again.

No extensions are possible after I-94 expires.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
