Hi, My mom-in-law is here in the US helping us with our 3-year and 1-year old as both me and my husband work. We want to file for extension of visa for her.
My father-in-law is working in Idnia so he is only able to come for 3 months from mid-March to mid-June. My mom-in-laws I-94 expires 5/22/09.
SHould we ask them to extend for 6-months on the premise that she is here to visit her grandchildren and help out with them and/or the fact that my father-in-law is going to be here till mid-June and we'd like her to stay here atleast till then but also longer. Another reason is we would like to travel with them in the summer when everyone has some holidays.
My main concern is:
- is it okay to say she is here helping out with grandkids?
- is it a problem if she stays on after my father-in-law leaves?
I am just trying to understand no what premise they can reject her extension.
Thanks for your help.
