Processing time for extension of B1 visa

i applied for extension of b1 visa (reason: extend family visit bec my nephew is a special child). my I94 expires on dec 1, 2009 , i already got a notice that USCIS received my request last oct 7, 2009..but the case status shows that it is stil under initial review

my i-94 is about to expire, can you enligthen me if i shld call USCIS since my application is not yet over 45 days (processing time).

i wanted to stay a little longer to be with my family yet i dont want to risk my multiple visa.. i believe if i become out of status my visa will be voided..
