extension of stay

I am right nw in usa on visitor visa and my return is after 2 and a half months.but the immigration offcer has stamped on my passport visa for 6 mnths .please let me know can i stay for 6 months or do i have to file for extension of stay in this case or i dont have to as IO has alrdy stamped visa for 6 months or i just have to change the ticket. pls reply asap

Please check the last date mentioned in the I 94 card given by the IO at POE. You can stay in USA till that date. So, you need to change the air ticket suite that date. It is always advisable to leave USA atleast one week in advance before the expiry of I 94 date.
