Visitor Visa Extension

Hello,

My parents have a visitor visa for 10 yrs and they are will visit us in feb. I am expecting they will be given a 6 months I-94 stay at port of entry but i want to extend the stay for another 6 months. What are the consequenses if i apply for extension and it is rejected while they are in USA. I know that rejection of extension would automatically cancel their visa and they have to leave immediatly but will the 10 yr visa be cancelled even if they are with the first 6 month limit and not on extended stay after the first 6 months .

10 year visa will not be void if the person leaves before first I-94 expires. That is because they would not be out of status.
