Visitor medical insurance for USA and Canada

Hi,

My parents are planning to visit my sis and me at Canada and USA respectively in a single trip . I would like to know if the visitor medical insurance can be taken for both USA and Canada together or they have to be taken seperately. Also, is there any benefits in taking both together. Any suggestions on the company to choose from?
