  • Patriot America Vs Apollo Munich Insurance India

    Hi Experts

I am looking to buy visitors insurance for my father (Aged - 59 years) who will be staying with me in US for 2 months.

I am getting a quote of ~$250 from Patriot America Vs ~$80 from Apollo Munich Insurance India. They both say that the insurance is comprehensive, same limits and deductibles. Apollo even would pay 100% instead of 90% by Patriot. Apollo also mentioned that their service would be cashless and they have a big network in US to make this work.

Having said all this, it all seems too good to be true at this price. But I wasn't able to find a flaw in the policy documents. Has anyone used these before, what's the view of experts?

    Patriot America:
List of providers within the PPO network are listed at https://www.insubuy.com/img-first-health-ppo-network/ You can contact any of them and confirm that they participate in First Health / Coventry PPO network.

    Indian Company:
Please get the list of providers within the US and contact some of those providers and ask them whether they will bill directly (cashless treatment) with the company in India to confirm. If they have no such list and claim that you can visit anywhere, then call the providers in your area and check whether there would be cashless treatment or not.

In general, please read the differences between buying from US vs India at https://www.insubuy.com/visitors-ins...ia-comparison/ and then decide what is best for you.

If someone is charging you 3 times higher than the other product, you can obviously realize that there would be major differences and there would be solid reasons for that. Patriot America is not charging 3 times higher just like that and others are not charging 1/3 for no reason because every company is in business to make money. Generally, what you pay is what you get. Obviously, no matter from where you buy, that company would have to pay the claims for the treatment in the US which is very expensive and those charges would be the same no matter what. Claims payment is the vast majority of the expense that the insurance company incurs from the premiums collected. If one company can't afford to sell at any lower price, how would others sell at 1/3 price for similar or better benefits?
    Thanks & Regards
