Hello,
My parents (aged 66 and 58) will be visiting me in the US for a little less than 4 months, and then visit Europe where they will stay for a week before finally returning to India. They are in reasonably good health; mom has arthritis (nothing severe, though). I was thinking of taking the Atlas American plan as it covers 100% of policy maximum (I am considering opting for $100,000/person with a $250 deductible) for persons less than 70 years of age when there is an acute onset of a preexisting condition, in my mom's case, a sudden severe pain in the leg can be an example. Also, visiting urgent care (the most likely place I'll take them if they're not feeling well) will cost $50.
When it comes to coverage in Europe, how does Atlas America typically work? Do my parents simply have to show their coverage ID cards in case of a hospital visit and the hospital bills the insurance company directly? Or do they have to pay first and then get it reimbursed? It would great to hear experiences from folks who have actually used Atlas America in European countries.
Thanks!
