  • Travel insurance for dual citizens visiting USA

My wife is a Thai citizen and will be visiting the USA with my 2 children who have dual citizenship. Will there be any issues if my children register for coverage using their Thai passports, but enter the country using their US passports.

Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us.

If your children are USC you have to use their US passport to enroll in the insurance. You can’t use their Thai Citizenship for the insurance. You need to do separate application for USC and Non USC.

What’s is your legal status like green card or coming to US on visitor visa and how long do you need coverage?

If your wife has green card then you need to purchase insurance from new immigrant section at,

If coming here on visitor visa then get quote from visit section using this link www.insubuy.com

Enter appropriate criteria. Please get separate quote for US and Non USC.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

      Thanks,

The problem I have is that if I buy insurance for my USC children separately, they're listed as dependents on the form. What plan should I use to register them separately from my wife who is a non USC? Is it possible to sign them up independently? I will need insurance for myself for 6 weeks and my children for a total of 4 months. The Insubuy website doesn't give me an option to change coverage dates for my kids. Is there a better option than signing myself up for 4 months with my children as dependents. Will the fact that I'm returning to Thailand exclude them from coverage after I depart?

Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs.

You will need to do 4 separate policies for coverage if there are different citizenships and coverage dates. You can purchase the same policy for yourself and your children as United States citizens but complete 3 separate applications. Placing your children on policies of their own will make them primary applicants not dependents, so you would complete the application accordingly.

For your wife you will purchase a separate policy as a non U.S. Citizen green card holder for the needed duration under the New Immigrant section of the website.
