Good morning, I am considering of buying insurance for my parents who are going to visit US for several month. U found 2 plans that have some coverage for people with pre-existing conditions: Atlas America and Patriot America Plus. Could you, please, explane, me the difference between these 2 plans for the Acute on-set of pre-existing condition ? Also, could you, please, give me list of medical prividers for NM (Los ALamos, NM) for both of the plans? Another question: I am going to buy insurance for the maximum length of my parents stay here( 6 month), but it might happen that they will stay shorter period of time (for example 4 month). If I buy an insurance for 6 moth today, would it be possible to change coverage length when we know exact dates of travel? Thank you

If there is a chance that they may leave early it is recommended that you purchase for a shorter duration and just renew the policy for the remain duration needed. After a policy is effective changing the expiration date is considered a cancellation .

Could you, please, tell me what is the coverage for the Acute Onset of Pre-Existing condition for both Atlas America and Patriot Plus (I couldn't find this info myself)? Is it up to the policy maximum? How about deductibles for this?

How old are your parents?

Both plans cover for an acute onset of pre-ex up to policy max. for the age below 70yrs.

My parents are 63, so I guess they should be covered.
Could you, please, answer to 1 more question: In case I get Patriot America plus and my parents get cold or flu during their trip to US, how much would they pay for the doctor visit?

You would pay out of pocket until your chosen deductible is met then the plan will pay the percentage.

I have just found that :
Patriot America Plus plan is very similar to the Patriot America Insurance policy, but the Patriot America Plus plan provides enhanced benefit for the feature Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition coverage" up to plan maximum selected for individuals under age 70. However, this plan excludes the Sudden and Unexpected Recurrence benefit found in the standard plan.

Could you, please, tell me if Atlas America includes the Sudden and Unexpected Recurrence benefit as well as Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition coverage?

The Acute Onset benefit has a broader definition covering more situations than the previous Sudden and Unexpected benefit used by Patriot America. So by definition the Acute Onset could cover the Sudden and Unexpected situation.
