  • Huge Medical Bill

My father was never admitted to hospital in his entire life, and was pretty healthy. Hence I took Inbound USA insurance. But suddenly his right leg got swollen badly, became reddish and hence had to be admitted in emergency and hospitalized. Bill is around $20,000. Please help me by answering below questions:
    1) What can I do to reduce the total bill ? Is there any way ?
    2) Can I get away from this bill ? If yes, how and what will be its implications on my records ?

    Thanks,
    plz_help

    1. You can't really reduce the bill. Talk to the hospital to see if they are willing to reduce.

    2. You can't really get away.

That is exactly why we recommend everyone to buy comprehensive coverage. If the person is not healthy, insurance company is not going to pay for the pre-existing conditions anyway. It is only paying for new medical conditions and the probability of someone getting completely new condition is same for a given age. However, when you get into new medical condition, how much you are covered is what is different in fixed vs. comprehensive coverage.
    Thanks & Regards
