I sponsored my wife's relative to come to US 4 years ago on visitor visa. She stayed back saying that she does not have interest in seeing anyone in India since they are all too busy and we are taking good care of her here.
Now, recently she got mentally sick very suddenly and tried to take her life. The emergency medical bills are crossing $150k as we speak. We have not signed anything in the hospital so far. The hospital is insisting that someone should sign for them to collect the "Emergency Medicaid", but thye don't want to give us a copy of the papers for us to show to others.
The I-134 say's (item 5) that the sponsor agreement is binding for 3 years.
How can we avoid this bill? She is in a critical condition right now to send her back to India. It will take atleast 2 more weeks of SICU care before she is physically fit to travel. She is even threatening that she will try again to take her life in the hospital once she gets better enough.
How long is the financial responsibility valid on B-2?
Please, NO responses from insurance brokers!
