  • Pre-existing condition coverage - Fixed vs. Comrehensive

I was reading many posts from you on the web site, that is great work.

It seems that pre-existing conditions are not covered by any plan and buying Comprehensive is the way to go for peace of mind.

My parents are in 70+(will be here soon), alomst everything is preexisting like HBP, blood sugar etc.

Based on their health pattern in India, as they get sick, they get treated for one of above because of side effects.

I am wondering if that is the case, all the things are goigng to be treated as pre-existing and then it would not matter what coverage i have, I still have to pay for it.

How is comprehensive better than fixed in this scenario?

I need to buy, insurance in very soon, is there a number I can reach you?

You can look at the description of Fixed and Comprehensive coverages at https://www.insubuy.com...p?section=fixed and https://www.insubuy.com...n=comprehensive

Both types of plans will NOT pay for pre-existing conditions. But if differs in how much it will pay for new problems. For example, if you purchased Visitors Care for $50,000 coverage, and if you get injured(obviously new condition), it will pay only $300 for emergency room visit even if the expense is $5000. While in comprehensive coverage, you have to pay 20% for first $5000. Therefore, in comprehensive, max. out of pocket is deductible + $1000 (20% of $5000) for expenses up to policy maximum. There is no out of pocket maximum in case of fixed coverage.

I am thinking to buy comprehensive plan from IMG. I am not clear about "preexisting conditions".

My question is : If the person has high blood pressure and incase there is an advanced condition or complication, stroke or something because of this,
will it be treated as preexisting under above two policies?

Will the phisician/doctors visit to get the BP check be covered or these are also as pre-existing condition?

Storke etc: It will be determined by the claim adjustor based on the
attending physician report and actual circumstances of sickness/treatment.
If it is determined that stroke has occured from high blood pressure, it
will not be covered. If it is completely new problem and not due to
pre-existinig conditions, it will be covered.

BP Check: That will definitely NOT be covered. You can buy BP check machine
from CVS pharmacy or Costco for something like $50 to $60.
        Thanks & Regards

Thanks for clarifications and your advise ---helps a lots.

Are policies bought online are effective immediately? Does IMG (Protection America) has good acceptability? or they have to be called to find out which doctor/facility to go to incase of emergency?

Insurance can be effective as early as next day or any future date you specify.

IMG Protection America has good acceptability. As soon as you make a purchase, you get a virtual ID card in the email, next business day, actual card is mailed to you.

Protection America (IMG) has First Health PPO network. It has got very huge number of providers in the network(some 475,000 doctors, and 4,500 hospitals in US). Very widely recognized PPO. When you go to those providers, they will bill insurance company directly and charge you only network negotiated fee.
