  • Good company for visitors insurance

How are you doing? I need to buy medical insurance for the period 4/30/2005 thru 7/22/2005 for my father aged 73. He doesn't have any health issues, does not and did not take any drug for any serious illness (BP, Diabetes, cholesterol). He had physical in 2000 and everything was normal. You recommended IMG policy, which is limited to 50K for my father because of his age.

Please suggest me a suitable plan with IMG or any other good company. Can you also please give me some references so that I can review the experiences of IMG-customers before I buy a policy from IMG. Your help is highly appreciated.

Thank you for your interest in purchasing medical insurance for your parents.

Yes, IMG's Protection America is the best policy. You may want to read
    https://www.insubuy.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25333 to understand why.

We ourselves sell thousands of IMG policies every month. You know that most people do not fall sick/get injured and therefore do not have to use the insurance (fundamental concept of insurance). Those that have to use the insurance, most people would be satisfied when buying from us. And therefore, they think this is normal, that is how insurance should have worked and therefore most of those people never bother to inform us, write on discussion boards etc. And because of the privacy laws, insurance company is not allowed to discuss claims information and medical records of the patient until you specifically authorize us to do that (remember, we work for you, not for IMG or any other company). And therefore, people would give us such authorization only when there is a problem, which is not the case most of the times.

I personally know many people who got their claims processed, but again because of our privacy policy and in general the privacy laws including HIPPA, I am unable to reveal the contact information of any customers. Imagine you bought the insurance, you had claimed, had good experience and I give your email address / phone number etc to everyone. People would be bothering you whole day and you would have to answer the questions all the time, how would you feel in that case?

Therefore, your best source of information would be to look at
    https://www.insubuy.comhttps://www.i...rance-reviews/ where people
have posted their experiences. Least complains or no complains is the good company to pick. In fact, one person has recently posted good experience about Protection America and specified his email address. You may wish to contact him.
    Thanks & Regards

You impressed me with a quick response.

Low long it takes for your company to issue the insurance card and policy. My dad is leaving India on 4/30/2005?

Is it possible to have policy of 100K? I'll check the experiences of your current and old customers as suggested by you.

      Thanks once again.

Insurance can start as early as the next day or any future date you specify. As soon as you make a purchase, you get a virtual id card in the email and next business day, actual health insurance card is mailed to you.

Yes, it is possible to buy $100K coverage. WorldMed is the only good policy that allows that. Please look at
        https://www.insubuy.com/worldmed/visitors-insurance/

And insurance starts at 12.01 AM on the day you specify. (Central time in case of Protection America and Pacific time in case of WorldMed). As most of the flights leave India in early morning, which is still previous day in US, to cover during the travel time as well, I suggest you put effective date one day in advance, which is 04/29/2005 in your case.
        Thanks & Regards

Sorry to bother you with more questions.

The on-line application doesn’t ask anything about the medical history of the person.

Does it come after the payment (credit card) page?

There is no medical history to be filled in any of the visitor medical insurance plans, because these are not medically underwritten plans.
