Renewing insurance coverage

Hi,

My mom will be visiting us in March. We are thinking she will file for an extension and stay here beyond September on this trip. She has been here twice before and I took insurance from different companies on her last two visits. She doesn't have any pre-existing conditions - diabetis, high BP, heart problems etc etc. None.

My question is - if I buy insurnace from SRI, IMG or any other insurance company that is based in US for 6 months and if she has to go to the doctor for some reason, how does it work in terms of getting the insurance coverage renewed for another 3 or 6 months? Will the insurance company renew or flat out refuse? If she is already here for 6 months, will we be able to buy insurance from any other company?
Please let me know if you have an idea.

In all the renewable plans we sell on our web site, you are just extending whatever you already have. In other words, you are just making another installment to your insurance. You are not truly renewing the policy and they don't look at any claim history while extending the policy.

Therefore, if you bought insurance for 6 months and soemthing happened during those 6 months that was covered expense, and when you extend the insurance, it will be covered as well.

In order to extend the coverage, everything such as policy maximum, deductible must remain same.

On the other hand, if you buy insurance from another company or another plan from the same company, or even same plan from the same company (repurchasing it because it expired or you want to change the benefits, deductible etc.), that condition in previous 6 months will be considered as pre-existing condition and not covered at all in the new plan.
