Pre-exsiting conditions visitors medical insurance

I was following the discussion threads at https://www.insubuy.com and it seems pretty obvious that pre-existing conditions are not covered. Could you explain what the 2 year or 3 year period listed means? My father had a bypass in 2002 and he has been in good health so far. Would this mean that any potential health problem could be tied back to this or this is for any heart-related ailment? What are your recommendations for someone like him? He is 66 and my mother is 60 (no preexisting condition). I assume that all offers made to him by companies in India that his condition will be covered are misrepresentations. Thanks for your help.

There is no plan from any company anywhere that will cover pre-existing conditions to visitor to United States, no matter what anyone says or claims. No one can practically afford to cover that.

3 year period applies to the conditions that don't have any residual effect now. Let's say you broke your right leg 4 years back, had surgery and everything is fine now. If you break that leg again, it will be covered.

But, things like heart disease are considered chronic disease. You always have it, even now, no matter how long ago it started and will never be covered. That does not mean anything else unrleated will not covered. Insurance company will still pay for any medical conditions, sicknesses, injuries or accidents that occur after the effective date of the policy.
