I am an American citizen living in Korea. My wife, baby, and I are moving to America on August 3rd, and I need to purchase short-term medical insurance.
My questions are as follows:
1. My wife is a Korean citizen who will become a US permanent resident shortly after arriving in America. Can she be insured before she is officially a permanent resident? If not, or if there are other issues preventing her from being covered as my wife, could she be considered my dependent?
2. For an ordinary doctor's visit, do I have to pay the full deductible before insurance begins to cover expenses?
Thank you for your time and have a good day,
