  • Do not go for ICICI LOMBARD Insurance

This is a general eye opner regarding the tricks that ICICILOMBARD adopts for looting our money.

My parents visited us in USA and due to some reasons were forced to leave us early. So I called ICICI number in USA to get their policy cancelled so that I could get some money back around $30. But they told me that I had to call their India Office for that. So I called their India office and the executive there told me that it would take 10 days to get my policy cancelled. Plus he asked me following documents -
    1. Scan copy of the 1st, 2nd and last pages of the passport:
    2. Scan copy of the return date stamp on visa copy and mention return date in mail:
    3. Scan copy of the return ticket to India:

I argued with him that since ICICI did not pay for my parent's policy I am legally not bound to supply them with all that info so he put me on hold and went to speak to his superviser. Holding for 10 minutes, and he comes back and said that this has to be done. I asked him to call his superviser and he again put me on hold. After 15 minutes he says that the superviser is busy on another call. So I spend 30 minutes on phone without answer.

Then I wrote to their customer care and still got the same reply.

So the nut shell is that incase you people want a good insurance company with competitive rate then try the companies mentioned here. Never ever go for ICICILOMBARD.

I don't understand what your problem is to provide the proof that the trip was short that they require.

Putting the issue aside, it is always safe to buy insurance from companies based in the US.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

I agree with txh1b. You should always consider buying insurance from US based companies. You can read https://www.insubuy.com/visitors-ins...ia-comparison/ to understand the difference between buying from US vs India.

In this case of early departure, we would just ask you to send us an email stating that you would like to cancel it because the person left early. You would get your refund as per the rules described for various products at https://www.insubuy.com/clients/

You would not need any other paperwork or procedure. No need to call anywhere overseas. See, that is the difference and matter of convenience when you buy locally from here, in the US.

ICICI Lombard Insurance - Unfair Business

I have taken an overseas travel policy in Chennai for a travel to US for 6 months. Based on the policy’s refund procedure, I am eligible for a refund of the unused portion (3+ months) because of my returning back to India.

I am a senior citizen, and I had to talk more than 6 times with the customer service of ICICI Lombard, in vain, and till date I have not received the refund, even after escalating the details to the grievance people as advertised in their website (Three names are mentioned), however, they do not even have professional ethics to respond to customer query.

I am old enough to raise this battle legally, and with such a pathetic customer service, I would strongly not recommened anyone to take any of ICICI Lombard’s policies. In case of any requirements as to details of this case, I would be happy to provide.

I have paid around Rs.19000 in terms of premium amount, on which, almost half of the amount is eligible for refund for non-usage, as per the policy terms. There are no claims or whatsoever against the policy, however, I got a response from a customer service professional - Pankaj Chettri, that I have claimed an amount of 300USD! If this is the case, ICICI should be paying me this money back! However, this cannot happen, as there was no such claim. I am getting a sense that ICICI enters in fradulent transactions similar to what I have quoted above, and probably, some bigger fish is yet unrevealed.

If you want to waste your money, energy and time, get disrepected and cheated, you have to knock at ICICI Lombard for a policy.
