  • Regarding Visitor's medical insurance

    Hi,

I am planning to by Visitor's medical insurance for non-US Citizens.

Can you please send me more information on the following:

    1. Coinsurance (Does the amount vary based on deductible)
    2. How deductible works.
    3. List of hospitals and physicians in Preferred Provider Organization Network

    Thanks,

Here are the answers for your questions,.

    1. No, after the deductible plan pay 80/20 or 90/10 that is for first $5000 of medical expense then 100% to whatever maximum you go for. 80/20 or 90/10 depends on which plan you go for,

    2. Deductible is the amount you have to pay first before insurance company pays a single penny. There is no co-pay in short term medical insurance.
If you go for higher deductible premium is low and if you go for lower deductible premium increase.

3.Which insurance product are you planning to purchase? Some plan has First Health PPO, some plan has Hygeia PPO.

If you have any further questions, please let me know.
    Thanks & Regards

      Hi,

Thanks for your information and its really helpful. We will go for First Health PPO but before buying the insurance I would like to get couple of things clarified.

      Here is a scenario:
      1. Say insured person who undergone some surgery 2-3 years ago and if he/she had a problem and requires medical attention (minor or major) will the insurance company covers it or not?. If no could you please provide me details and solution.
      2. If he/she visits the doctor and if paid in full because insurance doesn't cover problem, then will that amount be incurred into the deductible. In the sense, say I had a problem and had to pay full ($200.00) to the doctor and I have a deductible of $2500.00. Then the amount that I paid will be deducted from the $2500.00 or not?
      3. Whats the default deductible plan is that 80/20?.

      Thanks,

        1. It would be considered as pre-existing condition and not covered. No solution for that problem.
        2. Deductible is counted only towards the eligible expenses.
        3. I don't understand this question. Could you please clarify?
        Thanks & Regards

Thanks again. Sorry for not being clear.

Here is my question in detail.

So if I visit a doctor and get a bill for $200 . I pay that amount in full.
I visit doctor again and get another bill for $200. I pay that amount in full(since the amount payed so far has not reached the deductible amount of $1000).
But if the amount paid by me piles up to $1000 , then the expenditure incurred after this point will have the coinsurance.(i.e. the insurance will pay 90% and I pay 10%) till it reaches $5000.00 and after that it will be covered in full?.
          Am I right?
          Thanks,

That's right provided you buy the insurance such as Patriot America that has 90/10 coinsurance, or Protection America where you can elecet 90/10 coinsurance.
            Thanks & Regards
