Acute onset of pre-existing conditions in Atlas America

Hello Mr. Khatri:

I am sure you have received several of these questions, but I just want to make sure I get the facts right before purchasing the insurance.

I am planning on bringing my father to the US with me. He is a diabetic and has hypertension. He will be on the medications prescribed by the doctor and I do NOT intend to take him for any sort of medical treatment to any of the doctors in the US. However, as he is 68, I am hoping that he will be fine with the medications. But just in case of any emergency that he has to be taken to the hospital just for some support till he can be brought back to India -- will it be covered by the insurance? I was looking at the Atlas Insurance which may cover some sort of pre-existing condition emergencies, will this be sufficient for me to get for my father? I am the only daughter and my mother has also passed away and therefore, it is imperative that I will have to bring him with me to the US.

Please let me know your answer so that I can purchase the insurance soon. We are planning on leaving on the 31st of May.

Atlas America covers up to $15,000 in acute onset of pre-existing conditions for persons under age 70.

Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition:
If you are under age 70, you are covered for an Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition. Coverage is available up to $15,000 Maximum for Eligible Medical Expenses and up to $25,000 for Emergency Medical Evacuation. An Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of Physician recommendations or symptoms. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence.

I looked up the Atlas America Insurance and this is what I find below says I need to purchase Atlas Extra or Atlas International. I am not able to find the link for that. Could you please send me the link ASAP so that I can purchase the insurance before we leave on May 31st?
When I click to purchase the Atlas America Insurance, it only gives Atlas America and not the Extra or International.

Atlas International is for persons going outside the US, not coming to the US. Atlas Extra does not exist anymore.

So does that mean that the acute onset of pre-existing conditions are not covered if we purchase Atlas America (and not Extra or International)

Mr. Khatri:

I just purchased the Atlas America Insurance for my father. I would like to make sure of one thing.. if at all we end up using the insurance for some emergency -- can I use the card like I use my insurance card in the US where the doctor's office sends the claim to the insurance agency directly -- or do I have to pay upfront and file a claim afterwards. I would prefer there be no claims because its just too much hassle for me. But either ways, please let me know ASAP.
