What is Pre-Certification?

Hi Narendra... I bought Patriot America coverage for my mother who is visiting me for 6 months. I have been going through some of the documentation that I received after purchasing the coverage and I see the following line on the ID card that I printed online: "This coverage contains precertification requirements". What does it mean? Do we have to call IMG before any procedure and get approval? Or does the doctor's office take care of the precertification stuff? Any insight into this will be a of great help.
