Medical tests in US

Hi,

My sister is planning to visit US for a few months.

She has a medical condition which require her to carry out a couple of tests (blood and urine) every couple of months. I am wondering how that could be worked out during her stay here?

1. Can she have the test done in a Lab without having a doctor prescribe them?

2. Will buying insurance be of any help (since this will be considered a pre-existing condition)?

3. Is there any way I can find out the cost of these tests.

What would be the best way to get a test prescribed by a doctor in US?

Can she visit a doctor to get the prescription with having insurance?
(Even if she has insurance, i guess the visit will not be covered as this is a pre-existing condition)

Can she get a prescription by visiting an Urgent Care Center ?

These questions are not directly related to insurance. Therefore, I will try to answer to the best I can.

You will have to visit the doctor.
Whatever tests/labs he/she recommends, you can get them done in the lab.
Whatever medicines he/she prescribes, you can get them from the pharmacy.

Insurance will NOT cover any of the above expenses.
