Eligibility
You can get a Medical Visa if you would like to seek medical treatment only in reputed/recognized specialized hospitals/treatment centers in India. Up to two attendants who are blood relatives are allowed to accompany the applicant under separate Medical Attendant Visas, their visa validity will be the same as the Medical Visa.
The following list of ailments (not an exhaustive list) would be of primary consideration: serious ailments like neurosurgery; ophthalmic disorders; heart-related problems; renal disorders; organ transplantation; congenital disorders; gene-therapy; radio-therapy; plastic surgery; joint replacement, etc.
Medical visa is issued to minors only if the minor is the patient.
A physician accompanying a patient on Medical Visa can be granted Medical visa.
Visa for commissioning surrogacy is no permitted from November 3, 2015 onwards.
Duration and ValidityThe initial duration of the visa is up to a year or the period of the treatment, whichever is less. The visa will be valid for a maximum of 3 entries during the one year.
The visa duration starts on the day of issuance, and not on the day of entry into India.
