Lost / Stolen Passport with a Valid Visa
For nonimmigrant visas, file an Incident Report (Boletim de Occorência) at the closest police station to where the incident happened.
Fill out the Lost or Stolen Passport Form, and email it to [email protected], along with the Police Report.
Nonimmigrant Visas
All early and emergency appointment requests must be submitted by the Visa Information Provider and not by fax or any other means.
Working Hours
Monday through Friday, except American and Brazilian holidays.
Interviews: 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Emergency, non-tourist passport pick-up: 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Please be aware that the U.S. Consulate in Recife may be required to cancel all appointments during the rainy reason due to inclement weather and flooding in front of the U.S. Consulate. In such cases, you will be informed. You will be contacted by the Visa Information Services by email or phone to reschedule your appointment.

All non-emergency services are by appointment only. You must schedule an appointment online.
Exception: U.S. social security benefit inquires can be scheduled by sending an email to [email protected], and the service is available only on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Any request for special assistance, such as wheelchair access, help in ascending stairs, etc., should be sent by email.
You need to mention only one of the needed services for your appointment, even if you need multiple services.
You can use the same link above to cancel your appointment. Please provide an advance notice of at least 48 hours. Otherwise, you will have to wait one week before being able to schedule again.
ACS services are provided from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, except for Brazilian and American holidays.
Emergency Services
There is no appointment required for emergency services. Emergency assistance is available 24 hours a day.
