Getting a US visa has been more complex ever since the COVID-19 pandemic struck well over three years ago. And although visa services at US consulates and embassies worldwide have largely resumed, there are still significant delays at many.
However, due to the remnants of the pandemic and other world or country-specific issues, there are still US consulates and embassies in certain countries that are not currently offering visa services and related appointments. As of October 11, 2023, the following countries may have unavailable or limited US visa services at certain embassies/consulates.
Sudan | Due to increasing violence in Sudan, the US Embassy in Khartoum has currently suspended operations. |
China | Though the embassies and consulates in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenyang have resumed normal operations, the Shanghai Consulate is only offering emergency services until further notice. |
Ukraine | Consular services at the US Embassy in Kyiv remain suspended due to the ongoing Russian invasion. |
Russia | Services at the US Embassy in Moscow and consulates in Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok remain suspended. |
US Visa Services in Israel
Please note that at this time the US Embassy in Jerusalem remains open. However, due to the dynamic nature of the situation in the country this status could change at any time. It should also be noted that embassy staff must currently abide by a curfew, and this may affect staffing at times.
