Non-diplomatic and non-official visa applicants must pay the visa application fee. Additionally, some categories of visa applicants must pay an issuance fee as well. Visa issuance fees are based on reciprocity, based on what China charges a U.S. citizen for a similar type of visa.

Regardless of whether the visa is issued or not, the application fee is not refundable.
Issuance Fee
In addition to the application fee listed above, certain applicants must pay the visa issuance fee. For Chinese citizens, the following fees apply:

Paying Application Fee
The visa application fee must be paid before calling to make an appointment.
- There are multiple options to pay the visa application fee.
- The visa fee receipt is valid for a period of one year for one visa interview appointment.
- The visa fee receipts are not transferable or refundable.
