In an official announcement on July 27, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) stated that they will conduct a second random selection of previously submitted H1B cap registrations for the 2024 fiscal year.
The announcement states that in order to reach 2024 numerical allocations, USCIS will need to select additional H1B registrations. It should be noted that this second selection of H1B registrations will only be of previously submitted FY 2024 registrations that were filed during the initial period from April 1 2023 to June 30 2023, and is only for cap-subject petitions.
USCIS will make this additional selection soon, and inform all prospective petitioners who have been selected that they are now eligible to file an H1B cap-subject petition for the beneficiary named on the registration.
The H1B cap is currently set at 65,000 visas issued each fiscal year, along with an additional 20,000 visas issued for those graduating with a master’s or doctoral degree from a US college or university.
Update: USCIS announced on July 31, 2023 that the second round of selections is now complete, and all selected prospective petitioners have been notified.
