What have others experienced when receiving a "waiting" pick-up date for their visa application?
I am a U.S. citizen and applied at the San Francisco consulate for the L tourist visa about 10 days ago.
Instead of a pick-up date, my receipt indicated "waiting"...

I’m a Canadian citizen. I went to pharmacy school in the US and currently work in Michigan on a TN. I will need to move to New York soon since my fiance will be on a TN there for his new job. My fiancée is about to get a job offer and promotion from his company to transfer from the US to Singapore. We’re both US citizens and work at big international corporations.
We are excited to move, but I definitely want to be able to work while I’m there. What are my options?
