  • parents visa been rejected twice - need advise

    Hello,
    Need advise.

My parents went for visa appointment twice and been rejected both the times..

First time was in Sep05, when my brother took appointment(1st time) at that time people used to say(or seen some cases) if both the parents are working either they used to reject or not giving long term visa, so under that impression though my mother is working we took like she's housewife and my father was retired.
My brother and I both are permanent residents here, so we told them to tell like we have another elder brother in india and they did say like that. At the time of interview they didn't ask for my status asked only for my brother's status and asked some questions like when u're going to visit so and so places and finally rejected saying ur paper work and words don't match up.

Second time May06, my husband sponsored for them, so this time we thoguht of keeping my mother's status as working, but we're scared of they're referring the previous inteview application and again made my mother's status as housewife. So this time we thought of telling the truth and when interview officer asked for how many children and status may parents answered 2 and both are permanent residents.... that's it the officer said we can't give visa because both are permanent residents.

Now we're confused, if we take appointment again whether to take my mother's status as housewife or working? Do we have to mention whether my brother is here or not?

Does anybody have any clue of whether they would refer previous application?
Can we say like my brother left to India, are they gonna check 1st application as there it would be mentioned like he is permanent resident?

    Please I need advise...
    Help would really be appreciated..

    Thank You,
    Gragi

Yes, they have the information of previous interview in their computers. So changing your story now will make not help anyway. As both you and your brother have GCs and the consulate knows it it looks difficult. Showing that your mom is working now in my opinion will not affect the scenario very much. If I am in your position I will not apply again and save the parents the trouble and heartbreak of another denial. I am advising you based on my personal experience. One should lie very well the first time itself. Telling the truth to US consulate does'nt help.

gragi, try to build some other ties in India like property or something. Sometimes a letter from your mom explaining that she really misses you guys and she need to see you also might help. I am sure you must have tried but don't leave any stone unturned under the sky!!!!! It's just a matter of luck and MAY THE ALMIGHTY SHOWER HIS CHOICEST BLESSINGS ON ALL OF US AND OUR PARENTS AND HOPE LADY LUCK WILL FAVOR THEM IN THEIR NEXT ATTEMPT.

        Best Wishes
        Sri

hello gargi, sorry to hear about the visa rejection. If you go back and research posts in the past few months you will see a lot of info on cases where visa has been rejected twice. Also there are instances where it has been issued. Both myself and rcmax have posted to these threads.

In my view and experience, it is very difficult to overcome visa denials when all children or only child are abroad. They check their records for sure. In my mother's case they actually had the specific info of when she had visited and for how long etc.
Like everyone else in the same situation, you have two obvious options:
          1. Try till you get it risking heartbreak of old parents at their old age each time.
          2. Just accept the facts and wait till things have changed significantly to try again. For example, if you are a GC holder, sponsor them for GC once you become citizen. Life is not fair. Anyways my 2 cents. Good luck to you.
