OCI SFO
Applied for OCI (Indian born) via VFS and SF CGI.

March 16, 2023: Notice "Your Application has been ‘Processed’ at the VFS India Consular application Centre and currently is ‘In-Transit‘ to the Embassy of India/Consulate General of India for decision making."

I've been waiting since March 16 but it still shows processing.

I just checked https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnqury and it says "POOR QUALITY OF PHOTOGRAPH-SEND FRESH PHOTOGRAPH IN PART-A OF DOWNLOADABLE FORM". It's probably been this way for months but I've been checking the VFS site and it says processing.

I called VFS and they wouldn't acknowledge the status on the Indian govt website and opened a 'ticket' saying everything looks good a their end. When I mentioned the status on the govt site saying its obvious I need to send photos and asked for the process, they just said to wait for the ticket to process.

For people waiting for a long time, please make sure to check the Indian govt site for your status.

I'd appreciate it if someone could chime in with the best way to send updated photos. Do I courier them to the SF CGI directly? Do I need to upload it to the digital application as well? What other documents should I send along with the photos? Thank you.

OCI (2 Adults at CGI SFO)
1) OCI portal ack : 04/01/23
    MEA processed: 05/17/23
    MEA dispatched: 05/18/23
    Fedex mail: 05/26/23
2) OCI portal ack: 04/11/23
    MEA processed: 05/19/23
    MEA dispatched: 05/22/23
    Fedex mail: 05/26/23

We did not receive any status update emails from VFS global after OCI ack emails, so essentially that $5 sms service is a waste of your money.

OCI Misc Services - SFO
Hello everyone. Applied for OCI Misc Services to resissue my OCI due to passport renewal and crossing the age of 20 through VFS, specifically the SFO location.

April 11th, 2023 - In transit to Indian Embassy.

Both OCI website and VFS say the visa is still under process. I am traveling in exactly 2 weeks to India: on June 5th, 2023, and still no word from anybody.

How much longer will this take? Anyone else in the same boat?

Can I even get a travel visa at this point?

Perplexed by why it's taking so long to reissue a card I have already had for 10 years previously.

Interview process attaining OCI card via spouse
Does anyone have experience going through the telephone interview via *** with the Consulate General of India that is a part of the application process for attaining an OCI card on the basis of their spouse? Any suggestions on how to prepare for this or what type of questions they ask? Thank you.

FNU issue for parent of new born
Hi,
My husband has a blank surname in his passport. So his visa has FNU as first name and actual first +last name in the last name column in his visa and DL and ssn. We are expecting a newborn in a few days.

How should we fill out the birth certificate for parents name? Can we use the name without FNU in the birth certificate? How will this this impact the passport, OCI and Ssn of my newborn. We are planning to move back to india in a few months.

Please advice or share your experience.

Thanks in advance
